Instructions for Technolotics Editing. NB: New Instructions Added 27.06.06

Editing in Premier

• • Connect Camera to computer via Firewire cable.
  • Select File-Capture in Adobe Premier.
  • Hit the record button.
  • When finished capturing save the project immediately!
  • Open Project window and import opening/closing music, titles from Technolotics folder in G.
    • Filenames are:
  • Save the project in G:Technolotics/Technolotics_*show number*
  • Edit the show (don't render i.e. Hit Enter at any stage. Save regularly because Premier is prone to crashing)
  • When the show is ready for export select File-Export.
  • In the window that pops up select import settings.
  • Import settings from Technolotics folder.
  • Check export settings before exporting the video file.
  • Export file as Technolotics_*show number*.avi

Converting edited show to xvid and mp3

• • Convert avi file to Xvid using Virtual Dub.
  • Export settings have to be imported again from Technolotics folder.
  • Also ensure that the length of the show is entered in before encoding the video file.
  • Export mp3 by selecting export wav in File-Export Wav.
  • Ensure Audio setting is for the correct bit rate - 96kbps for high quality 24kbps for low quality.
  • The names of the files exported should be:

  *shownumber*_technolotics_xvid.avi   
  *shownumber*_technolotics.mp3
  *shownumber*_technolotics_dialup.mp3

Edit the ID3 tags

• The ID3 tags of the exported mp3 files to include all relevant information.
• Open the files in Winamp and view file info.
• Use a previous show's ID3 tags as a guideline.

Edit Technolotics Blog

• Select image for show from edited show and edit it in Photoshop.
  • Resize (432*320)
  • colour adjust (need to make colours more vivid)
  • Add a border to it.
    • Select all of the image.
    • Then Edit-Stroke will allow you to adjust the width of the border around the image.
  • Save for web i.e. as jpg.
• Upload xvid, mp3 and selected show image to server using Filezilla.
• Copy previous week's blog post to Notepad and edit.
• Save new post as draft and check links work.
  • Due to the server setup to check links a download must actually be started
  • not enough to rightclick and have firefox confirm the link exists
• When satisfied all links work, publish new post.

Edit RSS feeds

• • Open technolotics_rss2.xml from Server using Filezilla.
  • Add in new <item> using previous week's as guide.
  • Ensure update time is changed at the top of the file.
  • Ensure update time is changed in new feed
  • Upload changed Rss to the server.
  • Check feed is correct using link at the bottom of technolotics.com webpage and PUPA player embedded in Technolotics.com webpage.
  • Open technolotics_video_rss2.xml from Server using Filezilla.
  • Similar process to one above.
• Copy both RSS feeds into dbspin.com/technolotics
• Copy both RSS feeds into dbspin.com/technolotics/feed
• Copy audio RSS into dbspin.com/technolotics and dbspin.com/technolotics/feed odeo feeds
